Environment multi-jurisdictional guide

The Environment multi-jurisdictional guide brings together practical information on topical cross-border environment issues, country-specific Q&As on environment law and practice, and details of recommended environment lawyers and law firms around the world.

In each country-specific Q&A, a standard set of questions relating to environment law and practice is answered by a leading law firm recommended for its environment expertise in that jurisdiction following independent research carried out by PLC Which lawyer?

The Q&A guide aims to give a structured overview of the key practical issues including, for example, key pieces of environmental legislation and the regulatory authorities; the role of non-governmental organisations (NGOs); integrated permitting regimes; permitting regimes for water pollution, air pollution, waste and asbestos, including prohibited activities, clean-up/compensation and penalties for non-compliance; national targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions; environmental impact assessments (EIAs); contaminated land; lender liability and liability on asset/share transfers; due diligence; warranties and indemnities; reporting and auditing; insurance; tax and proposals for reform. It also includes a feature table providing readers with an at-a-glance summary of the position on environmental liability. In addition, answers to questions can be compared across a number of jurisdictions to assist in the management of cross-border transactions (see Country Q&A tool).

The guide also includes the Environment PLC Which lawyer? Super League 2011, which identifies the firms that have most successfully displayed their global advisory capabilities over the past year.
